The film has been earning rave reviews, starting some interesting conversations about film making, and is connecting with western and mainstream audiences in ways that no prior Toho Godzilla film has. What makes it so good? How does the human story impact the film? Is it the best film Chris has seen in several years?

Radio Arcade Episode 29B: Star Wars

On today's episode of One Cross Radio, we're sharing an unreleased section of an episode from our other show, the Radio Arcade Podcast! Midway through our 29th episode (which was looking at Ocarina Of Time and Majora's Mask), Christian and I got off-topic and talked about Star Wars for about 30mins - looking at some of the games, the films, feelings on the sequels, some of the books, and where things could possibly go. We removed it from the episode cause it didn't fit with the main topic (5 min tangent? sure, 30 mins.. harder to justify keeping it in), and Christian was awesome enough to keep the audio for us to share here!

Also, as we shared in the last ep, we will be taking a break for the next few weeks - the next ep will be on monday November 13th!

Reimagining and Adapting: Godzilla

On today's episode of One Cross Radio, we're kicking off a potential new sub-series!

 

Using the 1998 Tristar and the 2014 Legendary American 'Godzilla' movies, along with 2016's Shin Godzilla from Toho, we're looking at how you can successfully or unsuccessfully reimagine and adapt a character/property and bring it to a new audience (or time). What makes some work more than others? Does it have to be purely what was there before? Tune in to find out!

Where Should They Go?

On today's episode of One Cross Radio (which may or may not have been decided by a coin toss), we're talking about the importance of franchises/movies needing a plan to continue, and to illustrate we're using the examples of Bond, Jurassic Park, and Halloween.

 

Now these are three very different franchises, but all are in a similar position currently; all three recently had big story enders, and are in the position of "where do they go from here?".

 

Explore with us as we look at how these long running franchises could continue, if in the age of IP everything needs to be a franchise, and how things can be easy yet get needlessly complicated.
